"How did you feel when "your book" was discontinued?"
Nostalgia?
i didn't know where to posts this, i hope "friends" is ok-.

what were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.
I liked the Aid to Bible Understanding book. In depth and easy to understand. Also, no question and answer format.
Ironic that it is rumored to have been coauthored by Raymond Franz.
something that has always been a pet peeve of mine- public prayers.
is that even scriptural?
i know many churches (along with the jws) do it.
5 "“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." - Matthew 6:5-6 New International Version
within the past couple of days, women in nyc are going around topless in public.
i read in a news article, that in new york city, there are no laws against women going topless in public.the article says that family people are getting offended and they want to stop topless women in public.
in europe women show their breasts on on tv, the beach, and breast feeding in public.
I have a thousand and one images I can post on this thread but I think it might get Simon angry.
i knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.
all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).
they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

"There will always be cult minded misleading people to support your deceit."
ok we all say stupid things (probably on a daily basis in my case) but my mother (a jw) was told by another member that she doesn't have a conscience because anyone who smiles as much as she does simply can't have a conscience.
i bet you can guess the person who said it to her has a face like a wet weekend.. i guess the reasoning is: if you had a conscience you wouldn't have much to smile about because you'd be overwhelmed with guilt and worry.
what a load of old bollox that cult is eh?.
"Even if the organization is wrong how dare you correct it - you're running ahead of Jehovah."
"Where are we to go to?"

"So, while people will argue about whether that should be their right to distribute their crap, please try to understand that there is a governmental responsibility to regulate free speech."
I believe the line is crossed when the religious blather encourages people to kill others for their beliefs. This is an example (1:45 and 7:45 second mark.):

That's a big difference from the Watchtower murder fantasies.

SimonSays:
"Pray Tell: has tracked the story of Bishop Erwin Kräutler’s meeting with Pope Francis about the severe priesthood shortage and mandatory celibacy in Brazil, and Francis’ suggestion that the bishops of Brazil set up commission to make suggestions to Rome for a solution."
I don't know why you got off topic on this subject of priesthood shortage for the Roman Catholic Church but just to remind you the JWs have a severe elder/ministerial servant shortage. Think of pot and kettle.
"Either way, all religion will be attacked. You know very well."
That Watchtower prophecy about "Babylon the Great" being attacked by the UN is about as credible as the end coming within the lifetime of those living in 1914. It will never happen.
"So who has what percent is meaningless. it's about good verses evil."
You brought out percentages but now you say their meaningless.
"Will see who was right at the end."
The end of what? Your life?
"As you said in a different thread. Something to look forward to in my death bed, right!"
I hope you're younger than me.
